Wot? You 'Strayan?
Tourist, much? “Wot? You ‘Strayan?” refers to Caroline questioning a nice bloke from Sydney we met on the Subway. Seeing Rowie peg down the elevator at JFK sure was a sight for sore eyes! I’ve missed her and Caroline SO much and had a little teary of celebration in the terminal. Now that we’ve had a couple of days together, it’s like no time has passed....

OH MY GAWD! Noo York?!
Wow, where to start? Maybe with the square-headed bloke boarding the plane ahead of me checking baseball scores on his Blackberry? Or with asking the suited door-opener at Chanel where the closest dunny was? And then accepting a misting of Eau de Toilette from the suited perfume-spritzer upon clarification of the whereabouts of said shitter? Howabout the black dudes in Harlem who actually dress...

Liz's Lessons In Bed Bug Control
This is Luz from Un Zud. She likes to take the puss out of Aussie accents. Swiss Exchange Student Meet-ups Round Three. Score so far in the game; Lindsey 2, Other Circumstances 1. This here is a shout out for you, Lyndal, because I’m still sorry I missed you! It was so nice to receive an email from Liz saying she and Mark were living in Vancouver and I should come and visit. Between...

Because WE. ARE. YOUR. FRIENDS. →
Today Is My Birthday is so inappropriately funny and my blog crush is ‘uge! She’s done it again, talking about how some friends aren’t really friends at all, simply weeds in the big garden of life. Tittle, tittle.

Whistler while you work. Or, be the only person...
To fill in a couple of days before flying out to the US, Robbie and I decided to come up to Whistler. Wasn’t sure how it would be, between-seasons, but it turned out to be great! I am not a mountains kind of girl, but I love it here. The village is cute without being as kitchy as Swiss ski resorts, not one of the snowboarders I met were snotty and the slopes have trees on them. Of course...

They don't call it the "Grind" for nuffin'!
After much badgering from Mum to relive Dad’s trip to Canada thirty years ago, Robbie and I took on Grouse Mountain. The “thing” to do is go up via the Grouse Grind and catch the $10 cable car down. Locals call the 2.9km, 900m elevation trail “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster” - smarmy bastards. It just went up and up and up! Robbie ran off ahead leaving me to take it at my...

I'm Thankful...
1. For Rowan seeing Thanksgiving as an excuse to cook crazy stuff like duck. Duck! Who purchases and cooks duck apart from that tossy Prude and Trude lady who used to come into Hill Street Gourmet Meats? Rowan, that’s who. And it was amazing. Backed up brilliantly by Laurel’s moist and flavoursome 15 pound turkey on Monday night. I like talking in pounds, it sounds so grand. And you...

Quack. Quack. Quack...
If there’s one thing my other brother Ewen and I can whole heartedly agree upon it’s the awesomeness of Mighty Ducks. And I must be pretty keen on the sport the film is based on to go twice in five days! Now that’s a true Canadian experience… Just look at us with our beers in plastic cups! I would also post the photo of me ploughing my hotdog, but it just wasn’t...

Tofino: Same, Same, But Different
Marrawah ~ Tofino, west coast Tasmania ~ west coast Vancouver Island, Greenpoint camping ~ Greenpoint campground, a long white sand beach ~ Long [white sand] Beach, Coldwater Classic surf comp ~ Coldwater Classic surf comp…is anyone apart from Robbie, Ned and I freaked out at the similarities here?! Ned picked Robs and I up in a sweet-as hire car and we made the five hour trek to Tofino...

Perfecting the Jump Shot
How to make a pretty boring tourist attraction not-so boring so you don’t feel silly about seeking it out? Snap the perfect jumpshot of course! Robbie and I decided to demonstrate at Victoria’s Mile Zero - where the Trans-Canadian Highway begins. My camera is a bit cheaty - it has a “hi-speed burst” feature which may as well be renamed “jumpshot”. Although,...
