After a beautiful and relaxing train ride from Lisbon to Fundao and a school bus ride to Sao Jorge we were ready to meet our new WWOOF hosts and go home to get settled in. They weren’t there to meet us yet, so we dropped into the local bar for a beer while we waited.

Marrawah Makes the News in Portugal!
Just before Ned and I left for overseas, I spent a week at home which happily coincided with the second annual Cold Water Classic. For those out of the know, it’s a surf competition which travels to Tasmania, Scotland, South Africa, Canada and California. Aka, the “most Northern, the most Southern, the wildest, the coldest and the most classic surf contest on the planet”....

Too Much Time Spent Rolling the Chicken
We made it to Lisbon! Whoo hoo to ash calming down and letting us leave the island. Flights had been cancelled for two days but we managed to get off the ground when it counted! Can’t believe the same ash cloud is still affecting aviation in Europe. Ponta de Sao Lourence
Ned and I spent our last day off in Madeira on a bus. Not really, only 3.5 hours of it. Sooo worth it as the bus took us to the island’s beautiful Eastern Pennisula; Ponta de Sao Lourence. If Ned thought the lava tubes last week were cool, boy was he in for a treat!
